Mission Statement

The Sri Lankan expatriates living in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, formed, in December 1970, the first association of the Sri Lankans in the United States under the name, “Sri Lanka Association of New York (SLANY)”, for the purpose of  promoting the general welfare of Sri Lankans residing in the United States of America, providing a forum to meet and foster social and fraternal activities among the members, and promoting the Sri Lankan culture for the benefit of the future generations.  SLANY is a non-political, non-religious, social organization.  Persons over 18 years of age who reside in the Tri-State area, Pennsylvania and the New England States of the United States are eligible for membership in the Association.  Through the generosity of its members, SLANY also provides various charitable services, including donations to the Government recognized charitable organizations.  We invite you to join our Association and work with us for the benefit of all in the American-Sri Lankan Community.
